Our first blog post!! Reflections on 2017, and hopes for the year ahead!

We ended 2017 well! As we prepared to greet 2018 and the next chapter in our lives and in the life of Jubilee House, we gathered on 30 December 2017 for one final fundraising event. The bag pack at Morrison’s in Erskine pooled together £1,450.53! What a way to end the year! Thank you to those who volunteered your time for this event.

Thank you to those who have helped with other events this past year. People have raised funds for Jubilee House through dart competitions, commission sales, tea and coffee mornings, hair donation campaigns, 10-mile races, 5k races, raffle sales, curry and pakora days, Family Fun Day, ultramarathons, and others across multiple countries. We still have a long way to go, but we are getting there!

Every penny helps! Every penny puts us that much closer towards fulfilling our mission of providing second chances to women and children all across Scotland. Every minute matters! Every minute invested as you volunteer your time gets us closer to being able to help more and more people.

We believe 2018 will be a big year for us! It is a year of second chances… it is a year of new beginnings!

“Help me …

to become a beginning of hope for the despairing,
of assurance for the doubting,
of reconciliation for the divided;
to become a beginning of freedom for the oppressed,
of comfort for the sorrowing,
of friendship for the forgotten;
to become a beginning of beauty for the forlorn,
of sweetness for the soured,
of gentleness for the angry,
of wholeness for the broken,
of peace for the frightened and violent of the earth.

Help me to believe in beginnings,
to make a beginning,
to be a beginning…”

Police Scotland responds every 9 minutes to a call of domestic violence. And there are many more assaults going unreported. It is so important to empower these women to know their worth, to help them understand they deserve a safe space for themselves and their children RIGHT NOW. Do you have a desire to help us make this a reality for them?

Donate. Time, money, both. Speak out against domestic violence. And contact us if you would like to be more closely involved with the mission of Jubilee House.

We are still fundraising toward the restoration of the house.  Check this space for updates on new opportunities you can participate in!  We are expectant for the new beginnings we will see in 2018!
