A community of second chances

Our Vision

A community of second chances

for women and children escaping domestic abuse; providing refuge and life skills, finding permanent housing, and empowering the restoration and rebuilding of their lives.

Why the need for

Jubilee

In one day in Scotland, 45 women and 25 children and young people sought refuge accommodation, yet Scottish Women’s Aid groups were unable to find suitable housing for 16 women and 9 children and young people.

In December 2014, the Chief constable of Scotland said that, on average, police respond to a domestic violence call every 9 minutes. The problem is growing, but you don’t’ see it. It happens behind closed doors. It feeds off cycles of fear and silence. Many people believe domestic abuse is a problem of the past, yet 1 in 4 women in the UK are affected by it today. That’s 1 in 4 women on your bus, behind the till at the shops, in your office, and in your neighbourhood. This ugly reality is all around us, whether we see it or not.

But what if together we could create

A New Reality

Jubilee House is about so much more than spaces of refuge.

We are about second chances, freedom from fear, hope for tomorrow and newness of life today. We have been called into existence to break the cycles of violence by providing compassionate support, counselling, safe accommodation, partnership and unconditional love. We are committed to seeing this vision become a reality and we need your help.
